bluesplayer86
Im sorry to ask such a basic question ive searched the forum and cant find the right answer so a little backstory...... I have a bio cube 29 which i absolutely love to which i added 30lbs of live sand and 15lb of live rock (i know i need more rock im getting some soon) the tank has been cycling for about 3 weeks and i did some testing on my water and the results are as follows Ph 8.0 salinity 1.023 Ammonia 0.25 Nitrite 0 (i heard this is a good thing) Nitrate 10ppm i have 4 hermit crabs currently in the tank now ive read that any ammonia period is deadly so do i need to wait fore the ammonia to go to complete 0 before adding fish or what lol. Basically what Im asking is what do i do now. again thanks for all of your help this is truly a great group Cheers!!! Link to comment
kamikaze_fish
Yes you want to wait until your ammonia and nitrite are both 0. What happens is the breakdown of ammonia turns into nitrite, the breakdown of nitrite turns into nitrate. You want to make sure all 3 are 0 if possible but especially ammonia and nitrites. Then wait a few days to a week to make sure the numbers remain stable. Link to comment
