Oats
Anyone have experience using the Hanna Instruments 83200-2008 or something similar? Would this even be useful? I am not sure how the ranges available correlate to the values we are interested in here. Opinions Please! Issues I see, unless the units are not the same used in test kits, which I do not know: Magnesium test 0 to 150mg/L Calcium 0 to 400mg/L Potassium MR 0 to 100mg/L Alkalinity/Hardness values (based on sample values from aquariumwatertesting.com aqwatertesting sample) $720 available here HI 83200-2008 pdf Light Source 4 tungsten lamps with narrow band interference filters at 420/525/575/610 nm Light Detector Silicon Photocells Power Supply built-in rechargeable batteries or 12 Vdc adapter Auto-off after 10 minutes of non-use Logging 200 data points Computer Interface USB Environment 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F); RH max 90% non-condensing Dimensions 230 x 200 x 110 mm (9 x 7.9 x 4.3") Weight 900 g (32 oz.) lakshwadeep
mg/L and μg/L are approximately the same units as ppm and ppb, respectively, in water. Link to comment
Oats
mg/L and μg/L are approximately the same units as ppm and ppb, respectively, in water. Thanks, sounds like it wouldn't work well then if it will only test up to 150 ppm magnesium and 400 ppm calcium. Link to comment
disaster999
got some locals with some Hanna Instruments. besides the fact they dont require any mixing and shaking and measuring, they are just over priced for this hobby and you do not need such an exact measurement. just imagine how many boxes of salifert test kits you can buy with it.
