I can tell you a couple to avoid.

405 tropical (Huntington Beach)

Strictly Fish (Lakewood - was in Garden Grove)

 

Both cesspools IMO.

 

I like Seaside Tropical (Huntington Beach)

 

But these are all in Orange County

 

I'd be interested in a store that has tank bred true perculas?

Hey nanocat, where is 405 tropical? The only stores in HB I know of are Seaside, Ocean Reef, and Reef Collection.

405 is in a strip mall on Goldenwest/cross street Ediger. They have a few corals, some marine fish (dirty tanks, pieces of dead fish), but the help (including the owner) is less than helpful. I was looking at a via aqua titanium heater there for $39.95 which I bought new elsewhere for $15. Did I mention their prices were pretty high

yeah thats a joke. i tried every shop in the San Diego phone book and the only good one is aquatic wharehouse off of clairmont. the only problem is everytime they get something cool they stick it in one of their tanks. oh well.

pet town in el toro expensive but quality & knowledgeable workers, tong's off Brookhurst and the 405 good coral selection, reef collection in HB good prices on corals & fish, Fish 2000 poor quality fish, good prices on hardware.
