175 vs 250 XM

My 20H has 2x65 PC CSL lighting right now. I am looking into the MH area now and I think I have narrowed it down to using an XM 20k bulb in a pendant I will build from oak and stain it.

 

The questions

1) Will the 175 watt be enough to make SPS and maximas, etc keep the great color?

 

2) I have seen both the 400 XM 20k and 10k and with the 20K I wouldn't need an supplements correct?

 

Making the pendant myself will be much easier and cheaper if I can just go with 1 bulb and ballast rather then 2x28 PC actinc and 1x 175 XM 10k

 

I just want to make sure its bright enough to the bottom of a 20H, and I'd rather go with 175 watts then 250 if I can still have vibrant SPS and maxima clams lower in the water column.
