new2reefs
I found a Berlin protein skimmer ( the 60g one) that i picked up for 6 bucks. I'm setting up a 10g Nani and wanted to know if it could be adapted by taking out the middle part of it which will let it fit in my tank. Can anyone with this type of skimmer or someone that knows about tell me if doing that will affect the way it works. I know its a vague question but any input will be appreciated, i would rather set up a fudge and or sump but its on a dresser and theres no more room available Link to comment
tinyreef
i assume you're talking about the air-driven one. i don't believe the middle section is vital, as long as you cut it down to allow it to still accept the bottom and top parts. (i'll have to dig mine out later to double-check) you may be better off with a cheapo lee's or coralife's counter-current air-driven skimmer imo. i swapped the berlin air for the lee's, which is much more efficient actually (co-current vs. counter-current). the lee's and coralife are also much easier to modify.
