Epoxy Experiment - Aptasia Killer

MB3

Recommended Posts

I just located an Aptasia the backside of a key rock in my reef.

This particular rock is covered in feather dusters and all kinds of other little critters, so I don't want to take it out, and due to location, it would be difficult to do so.

The Aptasia is very small and I want to get rid of him quickly. From what I have read, they are difficult to remove and not all methods are assured to end the infestation.

My idea is to take a small dab of marine epoxy, and entomb his little ass into the rock, and completely cover the surrounding area. This area is actually very small, due to the fact it is so tiny right now.

Anyone see any problems with my Epoxy Assassination idea?

I've also tried a method using calcium hydroxide (pickling lime) slurry injected right onto them; they'll eat it and it dissolves them- it doesn't hurt the tank and it's quick and nukes them right away.
