Broken Monti

So I busted my piece of my green n purple monti cap, all the way down th attachment point, a present from scott at goochs corals. anyways, this was a while ago, i figured the piece was the size of a quarter, i'll get another later. so I look down behind my trachophyllia and i see the piece, upside down, with polyps on about the outer 25% of the piece opened well, the piece is coloring up a bit, kinda camo green now, will this start growing upwards from the bottom? or is it the outer edge of the top still alive? I am sure that what was the top part is toast by now, been on the sand bed for about 7 weeks now. so what do ya think?
