WillyWonka
i got myself a new mini fan that runs at 5400 rpms for $20 bucks. its a computer fan that is suppose to be pretty good. now i think all i need is a ac/dc converter but what i dont know how to do is rig the wires. there are three. one yellow, one black, and one red. i'm pretty sure one of thoes wires is just a sensor wire to feed info to a computer. any body know? lizbeth
Don't have a clue, my computer fan only had two wires. Link to comment
WillyWonka
was it easy to hook it up to the ac/dc converter? Link to comment
lizbeth
With only two wires it was a snap. I just stripped the wires back half an inch twisted them together and wrapped them with electrical tape. Are you sure the fan is DC? Link to comment
WillyWonka
yup positive the fan is dc, i think i'll just keep testing the wires to see which ones work. Link to comment
Guest AbSoluTc
Red and Black are universal.. Plus and Minus. The yellow wire is exactly what you stated. For a sensor. If this was hooked up to a computer, that yellow wire would relay the temprature to the motherboard telling it that its either normal or OVERHEATING. Wire up as usual. Link to comment
lizbeth
Did you get it to work or did you electrocute yourself. Link to comment
