JohnnyMTB
Got a new montipora frag from a friend, will see how it does under 96w PC, starts to look bad and it'll go back under his MH's. Have had good results with the SPS's I already have: Link to comment

kennerd
Cool stuff. The coralites on that first pic look a lot like an acro. Acros tend to have polyps that grow out of the growing tips much like that, where monti dig has bare growing tips. Looks a lot like a Stuber's Acropora from the growth pattern. Could be wrong, though. Link to comment
JohnnyMTB
Thanks for all the great replys. Ken, my buddy claims it's a monti, but who knows. It's only about an inch tall right now, and with all the variations even among the same species of SPS it may take a bit of growing. Wish there was a better way to identify coral species, looked through Borneman's book and saw nothing conclusive. Most of my friends frags come off of mother colonies he keeps, so I'll go with the monti id for now. Link to comment
Jahkaya
Acro. If it is a Monti it is not a digitata. Good call ken. I was just thinking that. Link to comment
JohnnyMTB
Ken- do you know the species name for the Stubers? I have found this page: http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/coral...alid_search.php but it doesn't list common names. Thanks, John Link to comment
