chrisc
Before: http://www.ictoadd.com/gallery/nanoreef/reef_022 Was never really happy with the look, a few people on here suggested I break up the rocks (thanks to whoever did!). I was putting off the 'makeover' until my hair algae problems had sorted themselves out - and the stuff stopped growing literally overnight after I bought my own RO/DI unit a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, last weekend I bit the bullet and took a hammer and screwdriver to the rocks. Created an awful mess for the first hour or two, but everything settled out quickly enough. So, this is what it looks like now: http://www.ictoadd.com/gallery/nanoreef/new_reef_006 As you can see, I've ended up with something of a wall running along the back - I'm going to try and get Xenia growing along the entire top length of that 'wall', and get some button polyps to start covering the large rock on the left. Haven't really planned anything else yet... The problem with a 'tall' tank like this is you end up leaving quite a bit of empty space at the top to allow for water changes - otherwise I quite like the slightly unconventional 'half-hex' type shape of the thing. I'm pretty happy with the rockwork as it is now, but any suggestions/comments are always welcome. Oh - are there any other UK nano-ers out there? Chris. Link to comment
CrocoDillon
Nice work, I think I'm going to break the rocks as wel... The tubeworm or featherduster whatever it's called has a great color! Link to comment
