WillyWonka
My tank was going great without any algae for about a month. then about a week ago a had a small bloom of diatoms, which wasnt that bad at all, my clean up crew took care of it. but as of three days ago i had a huge bloom of green algae. I was just kinda curious when these things will go away and coralline will start forming. Will i get another kind of algae next?!?!?! What can i do to reduce it besides water changes? Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Algae blooms are pretty common on new tanks. The green algae is typically the second and last usual occuring bloom, and should fade away soon. Your water source might also be a problem - are you using tap water? Link to comment
WillyWonka
yes tap water from time to time. i know its bad. is distilled water ok? i really dont have enough for a deionizer. Link to comment
Sahin
You dont have to buy a deioniser. For a nano buying RO water from the LFS should be alright. I have a 24G tank and I still buy RO water from the LFS...though each 30Litre container weighs a lot once its filled! Get into the habbit of using the best material and procedures for your reef tank. It will ensure an easier route to success. Link to comment
