Refugium Contruction - What do you use?

Curious to find out what other materials people have seen or used for making an external refugium. Glass and Acrylic have form limitations. I would like to hear or see information regarding material and form or shape experimentation.

what i did was buy a rubbermaid trash can and drill two holes in it. one for a 3/4 outlet and one for the pump inlet. then i cut some acrylic to divide it in half. i used silicone to secure and water-proof everything. i am not quite happy with everything about it and will do several more to fine tune it.

 

total cost;

trash can 7.00

fittings 4.00

silicone 6.00

 

 

and i have fittings and silicone left over to do more. any San Diego peeps want to try one out for me let me know.
