Littleoceans Posted November 14, 2003 Share Posted November 14, 2003 A common rule of thumb regarding water flow in a reef aquarium is to turn over 10-to-20 times the aquarium volume each hour. That would mean for a 10-gallon tank, we would want a cumulative flow rate of about 100-to-200 gallons per hour. Hope this helps. Link to comment

Reefer_Buddha Posted November 15, 2003 Share Posted November 15, 2003 keep in mind its not just powerheads. Skimmers, powerfilters, returns from sumps all contribute to the water flow and surface aggitation which is good for interaction with c02 and ph blah blah. Link to comment
