xxaquanutxx
Hey All, Well I live in miami fl.. plenty of salt water and sand here... I was wondering, Could I get live sand from the ocean direct? I know i have to be a few miles off shore to make sure there are no contaminants or runoff in the water. If i can get the sand how should i transport it?? A 5 gallon bucket with salt water and aireator? That would be great if i could get the sand from the reef patches..!! :mixed: Link to comment
Physh1
Yeah...you can do it. I'd just put it in a bucket w/ some ocean water and transport it as soon as possible....no real reason to aerate it. I'm not familiar with regulations in FL but make sure it's ok (read: legal!) to do this before you do....there are HUGE fines from breaking laws like this. Cameron Link to comment
xxaquanutxx
Yeah I know.. People have gotten caught taking rock, corals, and fish ... seen it so myself. I however dont have a problem with that because My school (RSMAS)@UM, has a pardon, we experiment to protect the waters.. I however do not take advantage of that.. I buy or harvest all my fish.
