AStarWithin
I am rescueing a green star polyp from a neighbor that is covered in a green hair algae. Only a few polyps are out, the rest are obstructed and remain closed. Can it be saved? If so, how do I clean it? Link to comment
Crakeur
pluck the algae off as carefully as you can and hope that some of your cleanup crew will remove the rest. star polyps are pretty hardy and should be fine. if you move the star polyps from the algae tank, the algae might not grow as well. caja
I had that problem - I used a soft toothbrush and scrubbed it gently in a separate bowl of tank water. It remained closed for a couple days then recovered nicely. Link to comment
mazultav
Thanks for the help! I gently scrubbed the algae off and in the process I noticed that pieces of the purple flesh easiley flaked off. Does this mean its dying? The entire base isn't like that, just a specific spot. Link to comment
mazultav
Sorry, the above post was by ASTARWITHIN... Mazultav is my neighbor! Forgot to log off... Link to comment
Yves
A part if it might be dying but shouldn't harm the rest of the coral, but I'd frag a small healthy part off just incase. -Yves Link to comment
