ok so i got the 28 watt coralife pc light over my 10g and i was tinking about trying to make it more powerful. does any one know or has any one tryed to put a bigger light strip in their? is it possible? from what i can tell it looks like i have about 5 " of extra space and i wouldnt mind customizing it to make one fit but will the balast be able to handel a bigger light?

You could fit a 32 watt bulb, but you would probably need to change to "straight pin" endcap instead of the "square pin" styl;e you have now.

 

There are two good options...

1. Forget monkeying around with the 28 watt and just pay $97 to get the Coralife 96-watt powerquad. This is beauty on a 10 gallon tank! You could sell your existing light on Ebay. or save it for use later on another tank or refugium.

2. Get a "workhorse 2" ballast for $23 to overdrive your existing bulb, or a 32 watt bulb. You can get 15-20% more light out of it, but the bulb will need to be replaced twice as often.

are those site in US dollars? also if i just got the 32 watt bulb then i dont need the ballast rite? also how much shorter would the life be on the 32 watt?
