horsehunter
I purchaced a False Perc a week ago( and yes I put in my only saltwater tank without quarantineing {is that a word}it.) The fish lived for 3 days was not to active no white or black specks no discolouration but very lethargic and never fed. It had white stringy excretement and if it was one of my cichlids I would have treated for internal parasites. I was unsure as to what treatments can be done in a reef tank. Now I think my lawnmower blenny is suffering the same problem. This fish has been very healthy for months but I think I will loose it. Any ideas as to what the problem is and how long should the tank run fish free before I try fish again. Corals shrimp crabs and snails are doing well. Temp 79 Salinity 1.026 PH 8.2 before lights out Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate less than 10 mg/l Alk 9DKH Calc 380-400ppm Thanks Frank Link to comment
caja
You need to run the tank for at least 30 days fish free. possibly longer. Here's a couple links to some fish diseases that might be helpful. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/parasiti.htm http://www.wetwebmedia.com/infectio.htm http://www.wetwebmedia.com/treatmen.htm Link to comment
