Is there anything else like southdown?? i cant find any around here? And Is it just a bed of southdown in the bottom of the tank or do you put somthing else in there with it? Southdown is famous because it's available more or less nation-wide. Some people use southdown mixzed with live sand to increase the amount of bacteria present. If your local store sells live sand by the pound, I would get at least a couple pounds. If you are buying bagged live sand (like Arag-Alive) the bags are 20 pounds each, which is probably all you need so you could forget the Southdown. Link to comment
