yellow light and white light

Yellow light is around 6500K and below. White light is around 10000K. The higher you go up in kelvin the bluer the light, 20000K is pretty blue.

It's all based on the color spectrum, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.

You can only go up so high until you start geting into ultraviolet light.

Most people run 10000k bulbs over the 6500k because it is more pleasing to the eye.

Anything below 6500k won't work for a reef tank, those bulbs are usually used as plant grow lights since they are more in the red spectrum.

So before you buy a bulb make sure you know the color temp you are buying.

I don't know, my 6500K are pretty white............6500k is supposed to be close to natural "sunlight". Granted, as you get the 10K and 20K's, they get more of a blue hue, but I wouldn't say that 6500K is yellow.

Sorry, it's not yellow but it puts out more yellow than the higher kelvin bulbs do.

Switch to a 10000k bulb and you will see a big diffrence between colors.

I had a 6500k going for a month but it was too yellow looking to me so I switched to the 10000k.

:) No, I understand!

I run the table in terms of spectrum (6500K, 50/50, and Ac03). I think since I'm not gonna pony up the cash for a 70W HQI, I want the extra 6500K for my SPS.
