redrocket
This is the plan: I would like to take a hob filter and cut a hole in the bottom of it making a hob sump. I would put a divider in the filter so the water would not all rush down the hole. Lets say a hole about 1/2 in diameter. What size powerhead would I need to get the water back up. I cant figure it out, I dont want more water flowing in and not enough getting out and vise versis. If I was to lose power the powerhead would stop running and so would the hob filter. Also a tiny hole above the water line will be drill on the return pipe so no siphon will start if power is lose. Do yall think it will work? What size powerhead would I need to get the water back up. Jahkaya
get rid of the HOB and use an overflow box, but the overflow boxes have a knack for malfunctioning. It will be near impossible to match the flow rates of the HOB and the return PH. If you do match them they will change over time as sediment and poo build up in the impelllers and housing. Your best bet is an above tank fuge with an overflow. Link to comment
