ReefNewbie
Hey everyone I am planning on picking up a 38 gallon tomorrow and had a filtration question. If I am using live sand and live rock, would a CPR backpack skimmer be enough to provide for good filtration of the tank in conjunction with the rock and sand?? Thanks!! Link to comment
Crakeur
skimmer will help but it will also remove elements that are essential to the reef so keep up the weekly water changes and you should be fine. Link to comment
ReefNewbie
Should I just get the HOB protein skimmer or should I just get a regular HOB filtration device? If you all suggest the regular filter as opposed to the protein skimmer, what would be a good HOB filter? Thanks!! Link to comment
jojopus
get the skimmer( i have the cpr, good skimmer)...... most people only use standard HOB for extra water movement and running carbon or phosphate removers. Link to comment
