Deep Sand Bed

Well I always thought more was better . The more sand you have the greater the area for beneficial bacteria to live in . Thus equalling a great bio filter . Of course this is purely speculation.

 

I have 29 gal with a 4" sand bed maybe even 4.5" and everything has been going great now for nearly 3 years sooo...
