okinamgagoka Posted October 20, 2003 Share Posted October 20, 2003 I installed a couple of 13w retrofit lights from hellolights under my hood about 3 weeks ago. I do have a piece of acrylic covering the lights to prevent any water contact. I pulled off the hood last night and noticed the ballasts are starting to rust most likely from the evap. Is there any way of preventing this? Would coating the ballasts with silicone help? Link to comment
jjharrisx4 Posted October 20, 2003 Share Posted October 20, 2003 The way to prevent it is to move them. I don't think evap is doing it, more likely minute bits of salt spray. Water inself doesn't really rust that fast, there must be salt involved. Link to comment
