Check it out... Using this on my 15G work reef tank... The water flow goes like this:

 

1) down through intake tube

2) Under the gray wall (taken from stock media basket)

3) Up and over the 1st wall of the custom media rack

4) Down through floss, and chemi-pure

5) Out the bottom of the media rack and into the main chamber where chaeto, heater, and submersible light are

6) Up and into the display tank.

have you tried it yet, does they flow work like you planed?

Yeah it works pretty good. The one thing I had a problem with is that the flow pushes the bottom of the media rack out a bit. But I just put the heater next to it and it keeps everything in its place.
