ModemMan8
I had, until this morning, 3 large healthy clumps of grape caulerpa growing in sand and against live rock. Yesterday I noticed that all of it was becoming slightly whitish and almost translucent. I began to wonder if there were not enough nitrates in the tank to sustain it. While checking it out this morning, one of the little grapes began to spew a deep green slimy substance...and then another...and then another.... I pulled it all out. I assume this is what is meant by "going sexual?" Do I need to be concerned about the quality of my water right now? All parameters are OK... but the green substance is now well disolved into the water. Should I do a major water change out? The only change that occured recently...was I put in an Ebo heater and the water temp is now a constant 79F instead of dropping overnight after I shut the light off to about 76F. I have read concerns about the plant becoming a pest because it grows so fast... and initially it did and i trimmed it back at least once a week. Thanks. Link to comment
