peppermint22
Hello again. I've got a question about cooling fans and evaporation. Does it mean that once I install some cooling fans over my aquarium, the evaporation rate will be higher, causing water temperature to drop a little? Link to comment
colemanitis
Yes, this is correct. What's your current temp and what's your target? Link to comment
seabass
You’ve got it. In addition, more gas exchange, which is also good. Link to comment
peppermint22
So, does that mean I'd have to top off MORE and on a MORE regular basis? Link to comment
kennerd
Correct. Fans help with evaporative cooling. Link to comment

darkgumby
Newbie here, so maybe I'm full of fish poop. If there is a light sheild between the lights and water, and if you put a fan where it blows on the lights and not the water, then maybe you can cool the lights without cooling the tank and thus cut down on the evaporation. Why do this? Well, if the tank is not too hot but the hood is in danger of melting then this might make sense. Also maybe a cooler hood would make for a cooler tank. Do cooler lights last longer?
