MPLS_Gazer
Hey All! New member. First post. I've never had a nano before and last night I fired up a 2 gallon nano. Here are the specs: 2.5 gallon tank. Measures 12x6x6 (estimate) Coralife 2 x 9w PC (One 10k and one actnic) Glass cover 25w CompactTherm submersible heater - Askoll Regent HOB power filter Couple pounds of live rock Couple pounds of sand Then I throw in a carpet anenome tomorrow... j/k I have a 38 gallon reef for over a year and a half. So my questions: Do I ditch the glass cover? Is it a good idea to use water from my main tank for water changes? Any pontential problems with this setup? Thanks, MPLS_Gazer Link to comment
mattie
glass is good unless the temp is too high a nano is so small It's best to use the best water R/O I/O or distilled don't use water from another tank it's already been depleated of trace elements and would have wastes. but seed your nano with a hand full of sand from the 38 to speed up the cycle Link to comment
MPLS_Gazer
Does anyone use water from their big tanks to change water in their nano's? I have a buddy of mine who does this and believes the water would be more stable and balanced. Peace, MPLS_Gazer Link to comment
MPLS_Gazer
Update: 10.10.03 3.5 lbs of Marshall Island rock added. Rock is in 5 small pieces. Pictures coming soon. Temp stabilized at 80 degrees. Took awhile with that tiny little Askoll heater. It's realy compact but you can't tell when you are turning the dial. Peace, MPLS_Gazer Link to comment
