I use this brand of "natural" medication with my freshwater tanks. Seems to help with eveything from fungus and torn fins to even internal bactrial infection.

has anybody used it in saltwater aquriums with good results? how about it's effects on corals?

Hello,

I have used Melafix in my 72g combo tank. I don't have any qualified corals, but lots of polips, anemenae, and inverts. Melafix has helped with broken fins, ich treatment, and new fish.

Only caveat I'd highly recommend unplugging your skimmer before treatment as A) it will remove the melafix and B) melafix has some surfactant properties and will make the skimmer overflow.

Bonus.. Makes your water smell like menthol for a day. :)

*laughs* yah the smell is cool, and good idea with the skimmer, that would be a mess.

once i was takeing a bath and a noticed i had left some fish stuff near the bathroom sink. Thats when i got this creepy urge to pour melafix in my bath water... (i didn't though) i would probably be safe though....
