Update:

I've added a tunze osmolator and a tunze kalkreactor.

I notice the difference because of the kalkwasser there is much more coraline algea in the tank.

and the osmolator works really great!

I also bought a Jack in the box.....

Its a funny fish thats busy all day to make its burrow bigger and bigger.

A question:

What type of fish is great for a little group?

Can i use Azure Damselfish or Neoglyphidodon crossi for it?

Are they reef-save and are they save for my tangs?

What do you think?????

(The anemone in the pic from my last post ia a ballanemone)

All the other fish are very healthy and without ich.

The rest of the tank looks great and all the corals grow very well.

Man sorry to hear :( back when I set up my 75g (RIP) I bought my hippo, he broke out and Ich really bad and it killed my royal gramma, YCG, 2 chromis and 2 firefish...I bought a skunk cleaner and the tang immediatley went to it for regular cleanings and he still does now in my 125g with the same shrimp :D

I was feeding him garlic soaked flakes which helped as well, now I feed algae sheets with garlic in them everyday.

I also have a cleaner shrimp that cleaned him and i used garlic and algea sheets.

It helped for a while but as you can see not for long!

The PBT got ich when it was in the tank for only a week.

My hipo also got ich but now it is clean :D

And I hope it stays clean.

Now i'am looking for some other fish.

I don't know what to take.

Here are some pics from my new corals and cuc.

Trumpet coral

Candy cane

cup coral

blue tuxedo

electric blue hermits 3x

Super Tongan Nassarius Snail 4x

Astraea Snail 10x

A few days ago i had a red slime outbreak.

So i took out the substrate and washed it with boiling water and after that i washed it with RO-water.

And put the cleaned substrate back in the tank.

It still looks clean so i hope it is gone.

As you can see the Orange Spotted Goby has something on its eye.

It's eating and acting oke so i thing it isn't to bad.

I am in two mind of purchasing an RSM250 like you or custom building a 120 Gallon tank.

It would be my first tank ever. But I have been researching heavily for months now as so keen on the idea of incorporating a Refugium, UV sterilizer and Ozonizer. Along with cultivating my own copepods for stocking of a mandarin or two at a later date.

But the RSM250 is not built to have a sump. Or is it possible?

I love the look of the RSM250 so much and wondering could I actualy add any the extra filtration i want, can any modding be done using the chiller cables and do i really need a chiller even?

Caught in two minds really!

:welcome: to NR

You can use a sump by using the chiller cables.

Use the "chiller"-pump to pump the water from the tank to your sump.

and pump the water from your sump back to the tank by using the chiller-cable inlet.

You can cultivate mysis shrimp for your mandarin.

Buy a tube with mysis eggs and forget the sump.

This is much easier and cheaper.

There is filtration in the tank and there is a skimmer in the tank so the sump doesn't have any use......

And yes! you must use a chiller in the summer!!!

Cheers for the idea of cultivating mysis shrimp. So they will breed in a reactor or just the eggs hatch?

Still like to use a refugium (to help bring down phos & nitrates and experiment adding copepods) and also at least a UV reactor. Hopefully using the chiller cables if i go with a RSM250. By chiller pump I am guessing you mean a pump that comes with chiller units.

Wouldnt know how to set this up. There is two connectors on the chiller connetors i see that come with the RSM250. Dunno how the flow would go though to the Refugium,UV,chiller back to tank. Gives me a right headache as a noobie lol. If I could get it sorted I would defo go for a RSM250 though! Looks so clean and tidy.

Least I def know there is more added cost to the tank with the chiller now (shrugs head... whats the use of heaters... shrugs head again LOL)

You just have to hatch the eggs and wait a day or two and put them in the tank.

There are two conectors in the inside of the tank and two on the outside of the tank.

On the outside:

1 cable goes to the sump.

1 cable goes back from the sump to the tank

in the inside of the tank:

1 cable just hangs in the tank. It is the return from your sump.

1 cable is conected to a pump that's in the back of the tank that pumps water from your tank to the sump.

So in one compartment in the back of the tank are two pumps.

1 for your sump and one for your filter.

So it is time for a new update of my tank.

The new corals that I bought are a plate coral and a bubble coral,

And the new toys are a profilux II EX aquariumcomputer and a dosing system.

Now that i have the profilux i know that my pH was to low for a long time.

It was between 6,8 and 7,2.

Now it is 7,8 at night and 8,3 when the lights are on.

here are some macro-pics......
