Since I am in the process of tearing it down to install a "glass-holes" internal overflow to get rid of the over the rim overflow I took the pump out to clean it because it was making a little noise. In the process of getting the impellor out I realized the pump body had a broken post on it. Can I save this pump? I can get a new impellor for $9 and a new o-ring/cover for $7. With shipping its $25. Or.. I can buy a new MD5 or a MD3 or even a different brand (rio?). What is the best plan of action? Is a MD5 too much for this system? Not enough? New MD5 impellor/cover shipped = $25 New MD5 shipped - $64 In the end I want a pump that will be as close to silent as possible and last me a long time. I'd like to spend around $60.. less if possible. Link to comment
