SeaMountain
While surfing for a new light setup for my office 15g - only 13"x13" at the top and 26" tall - I happened across a Sealight 9 watt x 27 watt Retro at premiumaquatics.com for $74.95. It measures 8.5" x 6.5" x 2". It has one 9 watt 7100K and one 27 watt 6700K PowerCompact. Comes with polished reflector, splash lens, lamps, remote ballast with 6' cord, and separate power cords for dawn and dusk control. Might be just what some of you need. I'm going to measure the stock hood to see just how close it comes to the waters surface for my application. Link to comment
Jahkaya
Three bookworms would get you the same. Course if you have too much money - 70w HM 20k. Link to comment
tinyreef
the 27W is a quad bulb. go with the bookworms or galaxy lights. end up cheaper and more spectrum choices. Link to comment
kennerd
Tiny has you there: the quads don't exactly have a wide variety of kelvin ratings. I had a 27w quad from a n00ber purchase (similar to what you're looking at, without the actinic bulb). I since set it up with a pair of 13w actinics from hellolights for my 7 gal cube. Even better, I found LOA quad bulb replacement: about 5700-6500 k in color for next to nothing. Here's a pic of the ghetto-ized setup Link to comment
Jahkaya
adin: I think you are right. The 28/32's will fit over a 5g which is 15 inches. Let me check but ,SE, I think 2x32 may be a better bet. Link to comment
Jahkaya
SE: save your money and get a 2x32. 11inches and change. There is your answer. Link to comment
