What happened to my skimmer?

Okay so I FINALLY found that the cause of my microbubbles was from the exit piping (tank to sump). In order to alleviate the problem, I placed a filter sock to keep bubbles from forming in the sump from the exit piping. All was good, but I did something to my skimmer. I don't know If I messed it up or if adding a filter sock changes things, but now the stand pipe in my octopus nw-110 is just EXPLODING with bubbles and my entire tank is a frothy mix with my skimmer on. What could have caused this? Any input is appreciated.

Well one of the rubber housings that was holding the impeller fell out of place. I gutted the pump, cleaned everything and put it back together and after a few minutes its fixed. Thanks for all the help guys! I never thought I'd say this but...... I have just gotten rid of my microbubbles. My life is complete.
