Adrnalnrsh
It's been a week (7 days) Ammonia has not spiked yet. I have all kinds of life that came in the live rock and chaeto still moving about. Copepods, bristleworms and mysis shrimp too. Plus some other strange hitchhikers too. I'll post pictures later. Also I did my first water change last night. I did 10% about a gallon, and everything went well. Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
CUC question, From what I can tell, I have a lot of bristle worms. Probably 4 or 5 of them. Some are really long, and I mean really long! Like 4-5 inches. Besides those being part of the cleanup screw, what else should I consider? My fish stocking list plans are Goby/Pistol Shrimp pair, and maybe a Black Ocellaris Clown I'd like to add an Anemone as well. Who knows what else might come out of the wood work? Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
Picking up a 65w PC 50/50 from someone today. I think that will be a good start especially compared to what I have now. I think I will stick with this til I get a bigger tank. Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
Well theres been no cycle yet. I have a AM monitor on my tank and nothing so far, its been two weeks. I have diatoms forming all over the sand now so I think its safe to say that there won't be a cycle. Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
Found a astrea starfish Most of been a hitchhiker. I guess if you have one then you have lots more. Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
I ended up having problems with the compact flourescent fixture and swapped it out with a Current 24" T5 HO with one Current T5HO 460nm actinic and one Hagen Power Glo 18k T5 HO both 24 watts and I must say I like it a lot better. I also have the 15watt 50/50 T8 on the tank as well. Which is this light Together theres about 65 watts and looks nice. I need to get an updated FTS for everyone. Anyone have any ideas about what I can and cannot grow with this much light? Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
My stock list plans, This is what I am thinking. Fish 1 - Yellow Watchmen Goby 1 - Neon Goby 1 - Percula or Ocerallis Clown (undecided black or orange) Probably do a Percula because of $$$$. ^ would have to be small I think. I don't plan on staying with a 10g for more than 6 months. Probably go to a 20-40. Inverts / CUC 1 - Cleaner Shrimp 3 - Nassarius Snails 4 - Ceriths Snails 4 - Nerite Snails 2 - Red Legged Scarlet Hermits 2 - Astrea Starfish 1 - Sexy Shrimp 1 - Pistol Shrimp (maybe) Misc I have lots of bristle worms already and some really tiny white snails, not sure what they're called. I do weekly water changes at 10% a week. Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
CUC Update: I am waiting on the following members of my cleanup crew to arrive from reefcleaners.org 4 Dwarf Cerith 4 Nerite Snails (Small - Medium) 1 Nassarius Vibex 2 Dwarf Planaxis That will make 3 Nassarius. Should I add a Turbo or Trochus still ? I have a pretty good algae outbreak at the moment. (I think I was overfeeding) and new tank syndrome. I am going to switch my feedings to every other day now instead of every day. Link to comment
patrick1234
Your tank is starting to come along well. But remember. "HE WHO GETS IN A RUSH BEATS HIMSELF TO DEATH WITH HIS OWN WALLET" Now with that stated you will be able to keep alot of corals under the lights you got but for you to keep clams and what not you need somthing like this in the 20"in http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage...unar_light.html Its what I just got for my 10gal Link to comment
Adrnalnrsh
I am actually going to hold off on clams and SPS until I upgrade the tank. I don't want to buy expensive lighting until I get the tank I want. I am thinking of a 65Gal. It will fit in this cubby space in the wall designed for a TV. Link to comment

Adrnalnrsh
cool, any updates on perameters? Looking good otherwise. Ammonia - 0 Nitrites - 0 Nitrates - 0 PH - 8.2 Calcium - 420 (21 drops) Phosphates - 0 dKH - I got 7 drops but I think my kit sucks, need new one. What do you recommend? SG - 1.025 I have no idea how to test Magnesium I am starting to see some small coraline algae growing on the glass now too. I still have a bit of an algae bloom, most likely part of the new tank syndrome. Link to comment

albertthiel
Phosphates which are a major food for algae of all kinds need to be as near to zero as you can get them as well. The other parameters are often a subject to a lot of debate but keep the s.g around 1.022 to 1.024, the dKH around 8-11, the oxygen close to saturation, don' worry about GH in saltwater, calcium levels will depend on what you put in the tank ... for some corals it needs to be higher and for invertebrates it does not. Do some research on the forum here and do some searches on the Net maybe and if I can be of any more help let me now FWIW Albert I just setup my first 10 Gallon Nano last night. I have crossed over from African Cichlids. Items I have, 10 Gallon Tank 15 watt 50/50 bulb with stock hood. (this will be replaced) 20 Lbs CaribSea Live Sand/Aragonite AC 110 (will be used for refuge/chaeto) AC30 just for now to move water. Cheap heater I added my sand to the tank last night and then mix my RO water (purchased RO drinking water from Fry's Food) with Instant Ocean Salt. FTS with lights after setup before I cleaned the glass. This morning after running an AC30, clean glass, light off. I still need a background. Today with lights on. Can't really tell, need better lights. I plan on getting some live rock from an existing setup somewhere near by (Gilbert AZ) First question I have is, what should my water parameters looks like in terms of Phosphate Calcium General and Carbonate Hardness PH In order to be reef ready to add live rock ???????????????????????????????????? I do know that Ammonia Nitrite Nitrates all need to be ZERO. Link to comment
