dangeroo2 Posted February 14, 2009 Share Posted February 14, 2009 fill vial to white line. add 10 drops of solution #1, cap vial and shake for 10 seconds. shake solution# 2 vigorously for 10 seconds. add solution # 2 drop by drop until solution changes from pink to blue. each drop is equiv. of 20 ppm of Ca cap and shake vial in between drops! The Propagator Posted February 15, 2009 Share Posted February 15, 2009 And.... be sure to check it AWAY from your aquarium lighting ( IE only check the result sunder normal house lighting ) let it sit for a few seconds before adding more after it has turned a darker shade of purple. It will change from dark purple to blue just form allowing it to sit a few seconds while inverting the vial back and forth most of the time. That will give you a more accurate reading IMHO.
