viinse
Is your tank still cycling? You need to measure it at 2 different times to get your high and low reading. Test right before your light cycle starts and right before it ends. This will give you a low/high reading. 7.8 is not too bad if thats your lower reading. Check your alk too. Heres a good article, http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-09/rhf/index.php Link to comment

Weetabix7
Between 8.0 and 8.3 is good. 7.8 is acceptable if it's your lowest PH reading, before your lights come on. Your Ph will always be lowest just before your lights come on, and will slowly raise til it reaches it's highest reading at the end of your light cycle. You need to find out what your highs and lows are before you start dosing anything. It would also be helpful to know what your Alk level is, since that directly affects Ph. Link to comment

The Propagator
8-10 hours is usually sufficient. The timer plugs into the outlet and the light plugs in to the timer. What brand of light do you have and what bulbs does it use, and what is the wattage ? To get a good PH reading check it about an hour after the lights have came on for the day. Link to comment
