SnakPak
I got my acrylic from Lowes. I can't remember the sheet size, it was pretty large. But I used .25" thick acrylic. Much sturdier for a false wall. The baffles don't need to be that thick, but I'd definitely recommend that thickness for the false wall. Link to comment
danktank
i would have gone for a thicker wall but they didnt have any in stock =\ Link to comment
reefman225gal
They might not be corals, but it's all I have to look at right now. I'm getting ancy! Dude I hope that's just the shell of that cone shell snail. If not you need to get that out ASAP, and do some reading before you attempt to move it. I'm sure it's just a shell though. http://www.manandmollusc.net/MolluscMoment...eshells%20.html Edit: Never mind after further review that looks like the Conus pennaceus. Its still predatory though. It's empty anyhow right? Link to comment
bmac16
Thanks! I'm running the 14k bulb from fishneedit. I might try a 20k bulb down the road though to see how much of a difference it makes. But so far I'm happy with it. hmmm....i have the EXACT same thing but mine is soooo yellow lol ...you have your light about 6-8in off the surface right? ...what brand bulb? Link to comment

And I removed it from the tank anyways after my algae outbreak. hmmm....i have the EXACT same thing but mine is soooo yellow lol ...you have your light about 6-8in off the surface right? ...what brand bulb? The light sits about 6-8" off the surface. I'm not sure what brand bulb it is. Whatever came with the fishneedit fixture is what I'm currently using. Link to comment

SnakPak
Updates: I added a piece of painted black acrylic behind the tank to contrast the tank more. It makes everything pop a lot more. I'm hoping that once I get a lot more corals in it'll really come into play. Adding corals is really slow going for me. I wish that I could just throw down a huge chunk of change like some of the other members, but slow and steady for me. It can be frustrating, but the tank will get there. I did add some blue clove polyps (not pictured) which I'm in love with. I really hope they spread around a lot, though I have a feeling I'll probably be cursing them down the road. My plans next are to hopefully find some relatively cheap rics for more coloration. I want some oranges, blues and reds for sure. I've also noticed a huge difference in Ph from night to day. I tested the water this afternoon before the lights came on and the Ph was 7.8. Just after the lights went off, it had jumped to 8.8. Crazy swing! Link to comment
SnakPak
Some new updates. Went through a massive algae bloom after I was on business travel for 2 weeks. It continued for another week and a half after I got home, taking over everything. I blame the crappy water I was getting from the LFS. I purchased a Buckeye Field Supply RO/DI unit and the changes to my tank have been nothing short of amazing. Absolutely no trace of algae in the tank. My Koralia Nano also died on me. Everytime I took it out to clean it, I ran into problems. I replaced it with a Koralia 1. The higher flow seems to have helped out the tank as well. Anyway, some new shots. New shaving brush macro. I love how this looks. My new emerald crab, Dozer. My hermit crab was obviously distressed at the addition of the emerald crab. I think his disguise is genious. LMAO. Link to comment
Mr. Grinch
Wow this looks great! Love the hermit mushroom and you got some zen thing going with the macro. Are the bubbles under the monti a problem? Link to comment
SnakPak
I think the added weight of the mushroom was to much for the hermit. He changed out shells after sitting stationary for a day or so. I haven't noticed any problems with the bubbles under the monti. It's actually growing really quickly. The shaving brush has already shot up another root. And today I added a clown goby. Now I need to start filling in all this empty space with some sps. Link to comment
SnakPak
The 20L shall be taken down shortly. I've decided that having this tank was great, but it isn't what I wanted it to be. So with that said, I'm moving to a 7gal Mr. Aqua cube. I would have loved to be part of the ADA club, but I wanted to see how this works first on a lower cost tank. The tank has been ordered and I'll be making the transfer next weekend, hopefully. I'm planning the minimalist approach, like parishhilton's tank. I'll try to get some last shots of the 20L before I tear her down. Maybe this will also inspire me to make more posts. I seem to lurk on this site more then I post, but I think that's more of my nature to begin with. That and I never really had anything amazing to show for my tank anyways. Link to comment

SnakPak
Nice - hows it look with corals settled in? Really good now. I haven't updated this thread because I've been posting in the Pico sub-forum. But here's some new pics. This image is actually a couple months old now. There has been a lot of growth from my corals since then. Link to comment
Clavius85
Nicest 7.5 Mr. Aqua tank I've seen. Good work! Link to comment

SnakPak
Thanks guys. I'm trying to keep this thread as updated as the one I started in Pico reefs, but I find myself in that section more often. Anywho, the tank went under a massive change last night. Took me a few hours, but I think I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. I have yet to see it with the light on, so I'm pretty geeked for when they turn on and seeing the corals open back up. I definitely made them mad yesterday. Before: After: New frags! Link to comment
SnakPak
I really need to start updating this thread as much as the one in the Pico forum. TGIF! Link to comment
