Tunze 9002 inside CPR Aquafuge?

So after a long while I am getting into the idea of adding the 9002 to my AP24. My first thought was to just mount it to the back wall of the tank. But then I had the idea of putting it into the Aquafuge/ps I am already running. Think this will work?

I dont think the water level is high enough, no wall to mount to, would have to be one of the short sides, and depending on what you have in you fuge, like sand, I wouldnt want that sucked up in the pump.
