sean-820
What would a recomended sump return pump be for a 10g (10g with 10g sump) i was thinking a mag drive 3 at 350gph or a large eheim at 317gph Im assuming the flow will be less when the pump has to work against gravity right? Assuming both were the same price, wich one would be better? Or are there better brands to get? Also do i need an actual overflow box , or could i just drill the tank and put the strainer close to the surface, or would that make the water level go under the tank rim? Link to comment
JustReef
The eheim pumps have an good reputation. The mag drive pumps seem to be more popular, probably because of price. You should be able to find a chart showing how much the pump will put out at different heights. I think RC has a calculator. I have a Mag 5 on my 40BR with a 20L sump. Seems to be about just right for me, but the pump is a little loud. Without an overflow box (and even with an overflow box) you will need to have a strategy to keep the drain from making that flushing sound. Link to comment
Atari
I just build this overflow. I was a snap. http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/overflow.html I used this for the bulkhead and it is dead silent. http://www.rl180reef.com/pages/standpipe/s...en_stockman.htm Link to comment
