m1sza
Helo . My metal halide lamp is 43 cm from water, do you think it isn't to high? I can't lower it because i've got 2 pipes there ). I can hang it at about 20 cm from water but i think it will be too near. 43 cm will be ok, or not? Link to comment
m1sza
i've forgot: 20 cm under the lamp the temperature is 38'C (in my room temp is 20'C), so it isn't a good idea to hang it at 20 cm i think. Link to comment
Jahkaya
With Good reflectors you should be alright. What wattage is the Bulb? What size is the tank? If it is a 70w over a 30H that may be too far, but if it is a 150 over a 10 you should be fine. Link to comment
m1sza
It is a 20 gallon tank. 150W MH bulb Link to comment
Jahkaya
18 inches is a bit high. If you have a good relfector to direct the light downwards there shouldn't be too much of a problem. The key is not to disperse all the light throughout the room. Most people hang their MH's 6-9 inches off the water. You will loose more intensity through water than through air. Just place your higher light animals toward the top. I would be wary about placing a Maxima on the sand bed though. If you had a 250HQI then there would be much of a problem. Link to comment
Jahkaya
just read your first post again. so long as you do not have to worry about splashing, 20CM should be perfect. Link to comment
