475 GPH pump with AquaC Remora

I have been running an AquaC Ramora for several months with the Maxi Jet 1200. I think it skims just OK and I have heard it is much more efficient with the Mag 3. I could buy a Mag 3 (350 GPH), but I have an old Azoo 1800 sitting around that I could use. It is rated at 450 GPH. Would this be too much? What would be the expected result with that much water flowing through the skimmer, if anything.
