Hi I purchased the above algae yesterday & was wondering if anyone uses it & can let me know their experience with it?

2nd is it best to plant in the substrate or in a crevice in live rock?

it can grow on either. imo it's better on LR if you plan on harvesting. if it's just to let it 'go wild' then sandbed. it will suck out ca/alk faster than a clam or stony so be aware of that aspect.

you may want to limit the flow rate to induce it to grow upwards but it will fall over itself if it goes too high. i suspect natural pruners in the wild limit this, so your best bet is to probably prune the tops of the stalks versus whole sections.

be careful of it getting smothered by microfilm algae. it will quickly bleach and die (another reason i prefer LR anchoring, you can blast it clean with a baster without a sandstorm). hth
