sayn3ver
i have a newb question. I picked up a tunze osmolator to run on a sumped tank. Things have changed and i will be running a sumpless tank for awhile. Top off kills me as my tank is on the 2nd floor and my ro/di setup and water storage is in the basement. i plan on running an mp20/40 on the tank in hopes of creating some small waves. My understanding is that this will wreak havoc on the tunze ATO. i am hoping someone has first hand experience. I haven't setup the tunze osmolator yet and have only done top offs manually in the past. Link to comment
burtbollinger
best bet is simply hold off on the wave action for a while, right? Link to comment
Bluesman1
You could put them both on timers. You only need the ATO to activate a few times a day. Just set timers so that the ATO turns on for 5 minutes and make sure the powerhead is off 5 minutes before and after that. *edit* Or are you worried about the waves breaking the float sensor? sayn3ver
i was worried that the wave action will interfer with the optical sensor. I suppose having them on timers is a solution. How much surface agitation can the optical sensor put up with? Link to comment
Boomboy
i have heard it is very sensitive. it comes on very often even in a sump tank, so you might want to put it on a timer anyways. Link to comment
sayn3ver
everyone says its accurate and the best ATO on the market. hmmm... i am trying to not have to use a dozen timers. might just pick up a reef controller while i am at it. Link to comment
