mazultav
Will this idea work, the top main tank is a standard 10gal, the sump is a standard 5.5. The black box is a penguin 125 HOB powerfilter that im going to put a hole in the back, im thinking around .75 inches. the orange is LR,LS, Macro etc, will this work for a sump?? What size pump for a return pump, the head is only like 2 ft, and i dont think there are any elbows because im going to use fleixble tubing, I think, any help would be appreicated. --Chris Link to comment

Vincerama
The thing to think about when designing a sump system is ... what happens if one of the pumps fail? So if the HOB pump failed, would the HOB still syphon water out (like a weir) or will your tank flood? If the return pump failed, would the HOB still pump water out and flood your sump? I'd forget about the FW gravel, just use sand. V Link to comment
