DBTReefer
Hello everyone! I was wondering how a brita water filter would improve water quality? Thanks for your help Link to comment
Scott Riemer
You really need RO/DI or distilled water. Link to comment
disaster999
it will NOT improve water quality. it might taste better to you. but the filter media will not filter out dissolved solids. your better off just saving the 20 bucks or so in filter and container and dump straight up tap water into your tank. if you want filtered water, use RO/DI water or distilled water. makonut
It makes water taste better as was said in an earlier post, but it is not creating RO water, so certain impurities do remain that may affect your aquarium. I am sure if you search via google, there will be more details on what the filter does and does not do. Link to comment
121a
Nope I tested my water recently and my tap is 175ppm and my filter fridge water is 167, so no you hardly do anything Link to comment

Phixion
I had a PUR screw-onto-the-faucet type filter and tested direct tap TDS and then TDS from "filtered" water from the PUR. The results were NO TDS decrease. TDS was the same whether straight tap water or PUR filtered. In fact, upon new cartridge replacement, TDS would increase by 50 TDS till about a galon of water was flushed through it. Worst waste of $$$ ever!! Link to comment
