LITTLEFISHEE
I need to upgrade lighting on my 110 from 2 X 96 watt 50/50 pc's to 4 VHO's within the next 2 weeks. I have 1 squamosa, 1 crocea, hammer coral, long tentacled plate, 2 short tentacled plates, 1 anemone and lots of zoos. Will switching from 192 watts to 440 watts be shocking to the inhabitants? How should I do this? http://www.hellolights.com/4654lamvhore.html Link to comment
Dave ESPI
Stick with what U have, or go HALIDES as an upgrade. I wouldn't trust the inhabitants to like that change much. I did it, and it wacked 15 corals on me, and promoted a LOT of hairalgae. Also, for 165.00 fer a complete unit, it cant be of any decent quality. Chances are the bulbs will drop efficency in less than 4 months. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The ballast is non electronic also so far as I can tell. IME VHO ARE A WASTE. Becides, you don't have the room for 440 watts over that 11 gallon tank Link to comment
bamann345
440 watt upgrade on a 110 gallon tank will be fine!!!! I have seen some awesome things grown under VHOs including SPSs and clams, IT CAN BE DONE!!! Link to comment
LITTLEFISHEE
A lot of people I ask advise me to get more pc's. but with the construction of the canopy, I'm not sure that will work. MH is pretty much out of the question. Thanks Dave & Bamann. Link to comment
surfy
Take out the individual reflectors and slap in one big one using something like skylight (solar tube) reflector. That way you can put more bulbs in closer together. Thats what I did on my 35g corner so I can give it a little more light. Link to comment
