okinamgagoka
When I bought my aquarium the owner threw in a couple pcs. of Live Rock. It's been sitting in the same saltwater for the past couple of months. Will this affect the rock in any way? Also, it has some green hair algae on it. How do I clean the rock of this? caja
AS long as the SW it was in had good flow through it the rock should be fine. The dinky little LFS near me has LR for sale that is months old in one of their tanks. As far as the hair algae, yeah, get it off before you plop that into your tank. In a separate bucket of SW use a soft toothbrush and gently scrub off the hair algae. Link to comment

okinamgagoka
i've heard of seeding. is that possible? also the whole rock is not covered with the algae, only a small section. not sure if that matters. Link to comment
