for the life of me i cant seem to stop the micro bubble issue, i have a Red Sea max w/ tunze 9002 and stevie T mods, im not running anything but carbon, but my powerheads are finding bubbles to convert into micros and its stressing coral, causing anemones to slime and look like crap..

I tried filter floss in the overflow box

switching the powerheads on/off to get the bubbles out

cleaning powerheads

flushing skimmer

Nothing seems to work, its obvious that air is trapped somewhere but i cant find it,

any suggestion would be great, i know im not the only one who has had this problem

How old is the Tunze? These skmmers produce microbubbles unitl they are fully broken in. It took mine about one week for the bubbles to resolve.

I have the same setup as you by the way. Tunze and Stevit T's rack in the RSM.

I'm running the same setup, and have now and then run into microbubble issues. Most of the time, adjusting the water level in the tank, along with tweaking the comb gate, seems to clear it up. There is a fine point between water level being too high (surface film) and too low (microbubbles), and adjusting the comb seems to widen that point just a bit.

Have you tested the skimmer itself in a bucket for leaks? Also, is the skimmer producing skimmate for you?

I'm not an expert on any of this, but thought I'd try to help.

With the Tunze 9002 skimmer, make sure the water level is at the water level line. Any deviation from that will result in poor skimming/micro-bubbles. If its still an issue, try putting the skimmer in pantyhose to cut down on the bubbles.
