For some reason the stealth heater that I got with the tank no longer works. I set my temp to 79 and the water hasn't gone above 76. My house isn't particularly cold so I'm pretty sure it just stopped working. A lot of people use the stealth heater, is there any reason to go with this kind of heater versus a cheaper heater? I need to know this pretty quickly as I will be running out fairly soon to pick up a new one.

I've always had great luck with stealths. Others I've had sucked. Have you tried turning the temp up to be sure before you run out and get another? The numbers don't always match the actual temp.

All I know is my coral looks pissed ever since yesterday when the temp dropped.

Has the ambient temperature dropped?

Yeah it has. But it seems as though the heater was off by more than a few degrees. I turned it to about 82 and its kept steady at about 79.5

do not rely on the temperature settings on the heaters. they are highly inaccurate. you are better of using a thermometer to adjust the heater to the right temp you want.

My stealth is set at 81 ish to keep the tank at a stable 77.7F
