fuzzyfishy44
Hey everybody. i setup my tank about 3 months ago and i have 3 filters going, 2 power filters and a protein skimmer recomended for a 20 gallon tank, only thing is, i have a 30 gallon tank but instead of getting a larger protein skimmer do you think a diatom filter would help reduce nitrates and phosphates and any other water problems. what egzactly does a diatom filters do anyway? johnmaloney
to some extent, if you like that type of filtration check out santa monica's "super powerful turf algae scrubber" thread. diatoms are great at silica, but I don't think many people are using them fro nitrates these days.
