MarLooney
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a coral I knew from a different LFS than the one I bought it from as "Snake Coral." The LFS I bought it from didn't know what it was called. To top that off the guy who sold it to me wasn't really sure of its requirements. "Non-photosynthetic... I think... and keep it in lots of current." Well I've kept it in shade and light but don't see a difference. I don't know if it's supposed to be fed, fed what, how often, nothing! Some of it has already died off but that may have to do with acclimation or freshwater top off that may have been blown right on it. I'd like a better ID on this coral but I didn't put it in the Identification forum because more importantly I'd like to know how to properly house it. Right now it's at the bottom of my 20H w/ 2x65W PCs. This was a cheap frag ($6.99) but I'd like to keep it alive and well. Feel free to ask any other questions. Link to comment

Crakeur
looks like someone glued octopus arms onto a rock and sold it as a coral. might be similar to the green calciferous algae that is identified by caja in the id section. Link to comment

MarLooney
Thanks a lot! The link didn't exactly work but it did give me the name and from there I was able to do research. Link to comment
